Belmont encompasses approximately 1,000 acres and is comprised of a series of interlinked neighborhoods that flow into retail villages, through the activity corridor and into the heart of the community, the Town Center. The Master Plan offers a variety of home types from houses on large estate lots to townhomes and trendy lofts above boutiques and cafés in Town Center. The primary feature of the Master Plan is the north/south Activity Corridor that links Town Center, Lake Park, two schools and all neighborhood retail villages together along with a number of open spaces and trails. This plan offers residents easy walking and bike access to daily services and reduces the need to drive a car. Retail Villages will offer residents the daily services they need close to their homes. Located within these charming walking Villages will be merchants providing services from day care to dry cleaning and bakeries to boutiques. Town Center will be a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented hub for shopping, dining, entertainment, and work. This area will be an open-air concept of walkable streets, squares and plazas. A central urban park will provide a place for outdoor concerts, craft fairs and art exhibits. Lake Park will be a distinctive element of the community featuring an eight-acre lake with a promenade that will link the lake with shops and lake-front dining.
